Fundamentals of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy is a unique 10-week opportunity to learn and interact with our established Numinus practitioners as they share their real-life experiences in providing integrative and transformative mental wellness.

Fundamentals of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy has a unique experiential learning opportunity where participants can experience the effects of cacao, a traditional plant medicine used in ceremony since time immemorial. Learners will participate in this group experiential learning opportunity via Zoom which will also include group preparation and integration.

This course includes 30 hours of live sessions, 25.5 hours of online pre-work, and 7.5 hours of practice group work. This estimate includes the total time to complete all learning activities in the course, however ASWB ACE credit is not offered for practice groups, optional readings, optional videos, or time to complete assessments. In this module, we will be learning about set and setting, preparing clients for challenges during the Medicine Session, music, and other considerations for your Preparation Sessions with clients.

This module will focus on navigating Medicine Sessions including working with a co-facilitator and responding to emergencies while under the effects of the medicine.

Learners will participate in a virtual cacao ceremony. Learners will be instructed to order cacao from recommended providers at the beginning of the course so they have it in time for this live session. Learners will also learn about the history of cacao ceremonies as well as its healing potential.

Learners will participate in a group integration session as a follow up to the experiential learning opportunity in the module prior. The remainder of the lesson will focus on group facilitation and important considerations at each phase of the journey.
In this module, we will look at some key considerations for facilitating Integration Sessions as well as a framework that we recommend employing to empower clients to get the most out of their psychedelic-assisted therapy.

Psychedelic-assisted therapy aims to identify and resolve root causes of mental health conditions, working by creating a mind-opening effect through the psychedelics that allows access to deeper levels of insight and healing. Although more research is required, existing evidence suggests that combining a psychedelic experience with psychotherapy can lead to lasting changes and benefits.

Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE provider approval period: July 11, 2025-July 10, 2028. Social workers completing this course receive 48 total credits including 13 general, 20 clinical, 5 ethics, and 10 social and cultural competence continuing education credits. ACE credit is not provided for practice groups, optional readings, optional video viewings, or time to complete knowledge checks or activities.

The last day that you can register in this course is the date of the first live session.
You must attend all 10 live sessions, complete all 10 pre-work modules and their corresponding knowledge checks (achieving 80% or higher), submit three written assignments (with the option to submit a video if preferred), complete all 10 practice group sessions, and fill out a course satisfaction survey before you can download the certificate.
If you do not achieve 80% on any knowledge check, you will have the chance to retake the knowledge check up to 3 times.
